Fragments & thoughts – May 15

May 15th, 2009 | By admin | Category: Fragments and Thoughts, Prose & Poetry

Humid May

Front door – humidity unusual for May
creepers with purple flowers
droop over a fence and yellow ones too
Autumn leaves swirl
Pushed by a tide of wind
They come in a wave
Into the shore of the pavement
As if they’ve come
From the greater ocean

Hyperdrive Life

I’m moving at half everyone’s pace,
they’re all rushing around me like busy worker ants
but I have no need to give chase
I’ll wander and observe
While they measure every crack in path
By the speed that they can get ‘there’
Hey! Why should I be going a million miles an hour
‘cause every one else is?
Why?

Is it natural?
This hyperspeed life
Is it natural?
This life in overdrive
Is it healthy?
Is it good for ‘me’?
Life in hyperdrive
Where does it get us?
And where does it take us?
It’s a blur, a flash,
A sound bite of colour
A video replay of the hour
Everything done this instant
NOW!
Our attention span
smaller than the head of a pin
We’ve just got to keep entertaing our selves
With news and information
And reality TV situations
They must be inserted
So we can regurgitate them
On Twitter and Facebook
with the quizzes and pokes
And the baudy jokes
Is there any thing new in this?
This life in hyperdrive
This Millennium Falcon life
This Star Trek Enterprise life
This Star wars Death Star surpise
Mr Spock would say it is not logical
